Structured Cabling Design Engineers
* Location: Heathrow
* Duration: 6 months (extensions are expected)
* IR35: Inside
* Rate: £negotiable
* Role: The successful candidates will be responsible for the design and implementation of structured cabling systems within various construction projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of construction methodologies, CDM regulations, and the ability to effectively sequence works.
Responsibilities:
* Design and develop detailed structured cabling system designs for new build and refurbishment projects, including fiber optic and copper cabling infrastructure.
* Prepare detailed design specifications, drawings, and documentation in accordance with industry best practices and client requirements.
* Conduct site surveys to assess existing infrastructure and identify cabling requirements.
* Develop cable schedules, bill of materials, and cost estimates.
* Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of the cabling infrastructure.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including CDM 2015, Building Regulations, and industry standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 11801).
* Develop and manage project timelines and budgets.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve design and installation issues.
* Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
* Understand and adhere to health and safety regulations on construction sites.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and methodologies.
* Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the cabling infrastructure.
* Experience with sequencing works to ensure efficient installation and minimize disruption.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in structured cabling design within a construction environment.
* Proven experience in designing and implementing fiber optic and copper cabling systems.
* Thorough understanding of CDM 2015 regulations and their application within construction projects.
* Excellent knowledge of relevant industry standards and best practices.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, and other relevant design software (e.g. Revit, BIM software).
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Full UK driving license is preferred.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience with BICSI standards.
* Experience with project management software.
* Experience with data center cabling design.
* Experience with wireless network design.
